Create your account and set up your family tree

Sign up, add the children or pets you journal for, and open Journal Home ready for your first prompt.

Kinlet needs two things before daily prompts feel useful: your account, and at least one subject (a child, pet, or other person you write about). This walkthrough covers both.

Create your Kinlet account

  1. On iPhone, download Kinlet from the App Store and open it. On the web, go to kinletstudio.com and choose Sign in or Start free.
  2. Create an account with email and password, or continue with Apple or Google.
  3. If Kinlet asks you to verify email, finish that step, then sign in again.

Walk through the setup wizard

After your first sign-in, Kinlet opens a short setup wizard on your phone. If you were invited to someone else's journal or album, you see pending invitations first instead of keeper setup. You can finish in one sitting or return later from Settings → Replay onboarding.

  1. Pick what you want Kinlet to help with (daily prompts, photos, books, and more).
  2. Add your name and, if you like, a partner name for shared context.
  3. Add at least one subject—a child, pet, or pregnancy you want to write about.
  4. Balance how often each subject gets prompts when you journal for more than one person.
  5. Select holidays you celebrate so seasonal prompts feel relevant.
  6. Turn on push notifications and SMS journaling if you want reminders outside the app.

Step 1 of 7

First keeper screen: choose what you want Kinlet to help with.

Add more subjects later

You can always add siblings, pets, or update names from Settings after onboarding.

  1. Tap Settings in the bottom bar (person icon on the far right).
  2. Under Journal, tap Subjects.
  3. Tap Add subject (or the + control), enter a name, choose child or pet, and optionally add a photo.
  4. Save, then repeat for anyone else you want prompts for.

Land on Journal Home

  1. Tap Journal in the bottom bar (book stack icon).
  2. Stay on the Home tab at the top (next to Highlights and Entries).
  3. You should see today's prompt card for the active subject, plus Writing and Add event shortcuts.
